Watering Jug

Late 15th C. English, pierced bottom, thumbhole on
top.  This clever device is great for "raining" on the
garden.  Submerge in water to fill, hold your thumb
over the thumbhole on top, then take to the spot that
needs watering.  Lift your thumb and Viola!  The water
comes out of the holes in the bottom to sprinkle your
turnips.
